Driving Sustainable Infrastructure Innovation
We’re driven by a clear vision to solve even the most ambitious infrastructure problems in a sustainable way for our clients. We never stop challenging ourselves to innovate, improve and exceed expectations. Many years ago, we set ourselves the challenge of making composites the mainstream material of choice for every project where they’re suitable.
Having achieved this, we’ve gone a step further by introducing the d² range of products, which offer the same great performance our clients have come to expect from Dura Composites over the past 3 decades, but with less embodied carbon, boosting the sustainability of your infrastructure projects and supporting the industry’s net-zero goals.
Our cutting-edge d² products, (renowned for having the optimal strength-to-weight ratio in the industry), are transforming the way infrastructure projects are conceived and executed. By investing in intellectual property (IP), we protect our d² innovations, ensuring that they continue to deliver unmatched benefits.
The Importance of Intellectual Property
At the heart of our d² innovation lies a commitment to clever design engineering that adds value to projects, pushing the boundaries of what composite materials can achieve. All of our d² products are subjected to rigorous in-house testing and advanced data modelling. These investigations allow us to truly understand how our products will perform across a wide spectrum of applications and industries. We don’t leave performance to chance; we engineer it into every product.
As of July 2024, we hold 21 patents and 140 design registrations. These IP assets reflect the originality and fitness-for-purpose of our products, reinforcing our position as industry leaders. Our patents protect the core techniques that enable our products to achieve unparalleled strength-to-weight ratios and minimal embodied carbon. Meanwhile, our design registrations ensure that the unique aesthetic and functional aspects of our products are legally safeguarded.
Redefining Industry Standards with Innovative Products
Our focus on reducing embodied carbon—defined as the total greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production of our products—stems from a deep commitment to sustainability. By using advanced materials and innovative manufacturing processes, we have developed products that significantly lower the environmental impact of infrastructure projects. In doing so, we support our customers in meeting stringent environmental regulations and achieving their sustainability goals.
Not only have we saved over 5 million kgs of CO₂ through our d² product innovation so far, but we’ve also embarked on a project to mechanically repurpose all our GRP. If you have GRP waste materials from your on-site installation, or if your Dura product is end of life – it will be repurposed into the production of new materials at our UK HQ.
Moreover, the optimal strength-to-weight ratio of our products offers significant advantages in terms of efficiency and performance. Lightweight yet robust, our products allow for easier handling and installation, reduced transportation costs, and enhanced structural integrity. These attributes make them particularly well-suited to ambitious infrastructure projects where both performance and sustainability are critical.
