GRP grating supported by bespoke profile colour.
Our non-corrosive GRP products were chosen by the local council and the contractors Alun Griffiths, to create a durable, long-lasting, hard wearing solution that the local people of North Wales could be proud of.
Alun Griffiths, turned to us to help deliver the fishing platform in Old Colwyn, in a new designated area in North Wales, as part of a wider project to improve access to the beach over existing shore protection structures.
The brief that led to our product range was for the structure to enhance and blend with the stunning landscape, and a bespoke, special order sand colour (RAL1001) was produced in GRP Profile and Standard Mesh.
Strong GRP beams replaced the traditional steel substructure.
Needing an enduring non-corrosive solution, the client opted for our composite secondary profile beams over the existing steel sub-structure. Our lightweight grating and profile and precise design allowed for easy manoeuvre on site. With minimal maintenance required, the client was very happy with the end result, to deliver an amazing space for grateful local anglers and tourists, who were keen to get their rods out.
Creating the fishing platform at Splash Point involved installing ten raking piles and four vertical piles measuring 22.5m long and 610mm in diameter, with works completed by Sheet Piling UK.
