Futureproofing the footbridge and improving safety.
The work was required due to the age and degraded condition of the present footbridge and timber treads and landings to protect the safety of those using the bridge and the trains operating below. Through the use of GRP Dura Slab 65 stair treads, Dura Slab Type 50 landings and the Dura Profile Web Stiffener, contractor Roberts and Sale were able to transform the bridge to vastly prolong its lifespan versus timber.
Single sections with in-built rise and fall.
Along with safety improvements due to the in-built anti-slip features of the Dura products, other advantages included the ability to manually handle the Dura Composites GRP, reducing the need for plant and reducing labour time.
Designed for use on footbridges and staircases, our structural treads overcome all of the problems normally associated with the use of traditional materials such as wood. Whilst timber treads need regular refurbishment as they are prone to rotting which compromises the structure and provides potential “slip or trip” risks for pedestrians, our GRP treads are safe, easy to work with and low maintenance.
