    FAQs

You really don’t need to, and it may invalidate your product warranty. For safety reasons, it’s important to understand that most off-the-shelf paints will not be fire-rated and can negate the safety aspect of composite cladding. Our high-quality Dura Cladding Flush Resist is available in 3 contemporary colours that won’t fade or stain, meaning that they’ll never need painting or treating, and is fire-rated to Class B, making it a safe option for a range of applications.

We recommend using a pro with previous cladding installation experience wherever possible. Understanding the structure of your walls and the building makeup before you start is critical to ensure that moisture and water vapour are dealt with effectively and don’t impact the performance of your cladding. In basic terms, to clad an external wall, you’ll need to attach battens to the wall and subsequently fix the cladding to these battens. For maximum fire protection, we always advise that your composite cladding is installed onto our fire-rated aluminium battens. If you know what you’re doing, the installation process is quick and easy as Dura’s composite cladding is ultra-lightweight and doesn’t require any fiddly clips.

Like traditional timber cladding, composite cladding can be easily cut with basic hand power tools. This can be done on-site, immediately before you install.

Most composite cladding can be cleaned with simple water and soap, or a jet wash if it gets really dirty. This is all it needs to keep it looking at its best.

Unlike traditional timber cladding, composites have a long service life, without the need for costly and onerous maintenance or replacement. The two Dura Cladding Resist ranges have a 15-year warranty and a 25-year service life if installed according to our technical installation guidance manuals.

Composite cladding is made from a unique blend of recycled wood and polymers, creating a strong, durable material with excellent performance benefits.

If cladding is made from timber or plastic alone, it’s generally not fireproof and does not meet the new standards set out but the government. WPC cladding and aluminium cladding do have fire resistance properties due to their composition, making them a more reliable, safer alternative to traditional materials.
