Is it possible to blend modern materials with traditional and natural surroundings?

For anyone with a love of the outdoors, choosing nature-inspired materials for their project will always be paramount. But if you’re working in the facilities and infrastructure space, is it really possible to marry practicality and durability with a natural aesthetic? In short yes. Today’s modern materials have now advanced to the point where they are able to blend seamlessly with traditional landscapes and in many cases enhance the usage of them.

If you’re responsible for constructing or maintaining walkways, bridleways, boardwalks or marinas to a high standard, you’ll be looking for a durable product that will add safety and peace of mind without jarring with the local landscape. Our hardwearing mesh flooring is made from clever anti-slip fibreglass (GRP) known as Dura Grating, which has a simple-to-install modular format and a gritted surface which offers superb traction in all weather conditions.

But whilst the benefits of the product are clear, what about the aesthetic?

The good news is that you don’t need to compromise, as Dura Grating is available in a beautiful rich-toned neutral colour which we call… Teak.

Teak is the perfect backdrop for natural planting schemes, beauty spots and other recreational and leisure areas, our teak grating helps walkway users make the most of facilities in all seasons whilst promoting safety and longevity. It’s a particularly good replacement for slippery or rotten wooden surfaces which pose a hazard and its lightweight but strong profile means its fast and easy to install. In today’s marketplace, consumers have the right to demand products that offer a sustainable long lifecycle and that keep their chosen materials in use at their highest value for as long as possible, supporting a circular economy – and Teak Dura Grating is a great example of this.

We’re committed to providing you with the information you need to manage your carbon emissions. The embodied carbon values for our GRP grating can be used to help during the planning, materials selection, design, construction and long-term management of your infrastructure.
