    Terrace & Podium Decking

Building regulations are evolving to ensure residential and commercial buildings are constructed using materials that put the structure in a fire-safe position. Whether you’re erecting a new build or completing a remediation project, future-proof your terrace design with attractive, long-lasting, and non-combustible decking materials.

    Terrace Decking Requirements

Whether the terrace space is down on ground level or as high as the building’s rooftop, choosing the right decking material for the job is important. High-rise terrace decking projects must comply with current building regulations, which require a minimum fire performance rating of A2-s1, d0 (non-combustible). While not legally required, decking products for ground-level terraces should also hold a high fire performance rating, especially where the terrace forms part of a public space.

A high level of slip resistance is another common priority for terrace and podium decking. Pool terraces, or spaces with full exposure to the elements are susceptible to becoming wet, so the chosen decking material should maintain a low slip risk in both wet and dry conditions to ensure complete safety for those using the space. For low slip potential, look for a Pendulum Test Value (PTV) of 36 or higher, as this indicates a reduced risk of slipping in both dry and wet conditions.

With terrace and podium decking projects, aesthetics can also be a priority. For an application with a large floor span, the appearance of the decking material can influence the overall look and feel of the space, so a material with a luxurious appearance that mimics the appearance of luxury hardwoods but also ticks the relevant safety boxes is a real winner.

    Porcelain Roof Terrace Decking

Boasting a sleek and modern architectural style, our porcelain terrace decking range (Dura Deck Inspire) is ideal for terrace and podium decking applications. The planks give the appearance of traditional timber with a variegated wood grain finish, but being composed of porcelain eliminates the drawbacks of traditional timber decking.

With a unique length of 1.8 metres, our porcelain decking spans up to 50% more than competitor products. This means that substructure material costs are lowered, and less handling and labour are required for installation. Dura Deck Inspire is resistant to wear and tear, impacts, and other mechanical stresses, so fewer repairs and replacements over its long lifespan.

    • A1 fire rating, exceeding building regulation requirements
    • Up to 21% stronger than competitor products
    • Resistant to heat and water absorption, removing the risk of deformation
    • Resistant to frost and ice
    • Excellent anti-slip properties
    • 60-year lifetime expectancy
    • 10-year structural warranty

    Aluminium Roof Terrace Decking

Where a more contemporary appearance is desired, our aluminium terrace decking range (Dura Deck Aluminium) is the perfect solution for a classic look that doesn’t compromise safety.

Forget everything you know about traditional aluminium decking. Our unique range of aluminium flooring products is designed for optimum safety, comfort, and appearance. With high thermal conductivity and an exclusive surface powder coating that is specifically formulated and designed to make barefoot use a pleasure, our aluminium balcony flooring range is cooler underfoot by up to 13.8°C versus composite timber decking in a comparable colour. Our unique paint formula ensures unrivalled slip potential in both wet and dry conditions.

Our aluminium decking range also outspans competitors’ by up to 75%, but our advanced engineering uses up to 25% less material for a lower carbon footprint. We design our aluminium balcony decking around just 0.5% deflection or L/200 for a higher safety factor, and the planks are incredibly lightweight, making handling and manoeuvring easy.

    • A2 fire rating, meeting building regulation requirements
    • Double skin with an anti-slip surface
    • Hard-wearing composition
    • Lightweight profile, ideal for new builds and refurbishments
    • Comfortable underfoot in all temperatures
    • Two drainage options
    • Minimum life expectancy of 60 years
