A temporary platform serving 2023’s Rail Live exhibition.
Dura Composites has introduced an enhanced version of its award-winning Dura Platform at Honeybourne Station. The update includes the innovative Tri-Tone Grit surface, offering a natural aesthetic aligned with UK stations and improved anti-slip properties for high-traffic areas.
Installed for the first time in Worcestershire, the lightweight yet robust composite GRP passenger walkway panels feature integral lines and recessed tactile plates. They were used for the temporary platform serving 2023’s Rail Live exhibition. The Dura Platform was chosen for the Honeybourne Station upgrade in collaboration with Sisk and Network Rail. Post-exhibition, the panels will be relocated to future sites within the Wales and Western route and later to Barmouth for a temporary school shuttle service.
The modular lightweight panels, easily manoeuvrable without heavy machinery, save time and minimise disruptions. The updated Dura Platform showcases the advanced Tri-Tone surface, optimising anti-slip endurance and visual resistance to dirt. Meeting Network Rail’s slip resistance specification of 55 PTV, the Tri-Tone surface achieves dry figures of 78 and wet figures of 68 after 1.1 million footfalls, retaining an impressive 97.5% of its original slip resistance. Independent testing reveals a 4% increase in slip resistance in dry conditions and an 8% improvement in wet conditions compared to the previous generation Dura Platform surface.
